What a great time we had at the NSP National Meeting in Stratford-upon-Avon. The drive there was brilliant, with hardly any traffic, and we didn’t get lost! When we arrived we had lunch sitting on the hotel’s sun patio beside the river, watching the ducks and rabbits on the opposite bank. The meeting started at 1o’clock when we were immediately introduced to the one and only Mr Motivator who got us working out straightaway. He really is good at making you feel positive about yourself, and one thing I remember in particular is this piece of advice – when you get up in the morning look in the mirror, smile, say “I feel great!”, and then think of 10 things that you are grateful for. You can see, hear, walk, talk; you may have healthy children, people who love you. Then you’ll feel happy for the rest of the day.

Dr Mary Staggs again shared with us her vast knowledge and experiences as she told us of her successes using Nature’s Sunshine products with people who visit her clinic. She is a real believer in cleansing, and extols the great benefits of doing the Chinese Cleanse. So many toxins build up in our liver, kidneys and bowels that can easily be removed by the Tiao He Cleanse – a combination of Chinese herbs. On completing the Cleanse, one elderly woman had found, following medical analysis, that a 20-year-old stool had been released! This was just one of the many stories she entertained us with that day. Why not come along to the next National Meeting in September and meet Dr Hilary Jones.

DID YOU KNOW…? -  PESTICIDES
A study carried out by the Environmental Working Group found that ‘more than half of the total dietary risk from pesticides was concentrated in just 12 (conventional crops). The pesticides that were found in these foods are
classified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as probable human carcinogens, nervous system poisons and endocrine system disrupters
.

The twelve most contaminated foods were found to be:
1. strawberries      2. green and red peppers    3. spinach        4. cherries (US)         5. cantaloupe (Mexico)        6. peaches       7. celery     8. apples                                                9. apricots     10.green beans   11. grapes (Chilean)          12. cucumbers.  This is reason enough for me to eat organic food and you now know the top twelve most contaminated foods to avoid.

THE 100% PURE PHILOSOPHY
If you are new to Nature's Sunshine you may not realise the importance of choosing your nutritional supplements wisely. The vitamin and mineral supplements from Nature's Sunshine are not like the majority of supplements
you can buy at Health Food shops or supermarkets that are predominantly synthetic i.e. vitamins that are chemically manufactured, thus making them ineffective with only 10% being absorbed into our bodies.

Our products come in a natural herb base on which pesticides or herbicides have not been used. Nature's Sunshine buys all its raw materials from the most reputable suppliers in the world, and they have the most extensive base of quality assurance equipment and procedures in the industry to test every batch of herbs for contamination such as E-coli, Salmonella and radiation. Nature's Sunshine ensures that every product leaving its facility reflects its 100% pure philosophy.

I try and eat organic food whenever possible and I also take Nature's Sunshine organic vitamins and minerals to supplement my diet. I try and look after my body the best I can by avoiding chemicals in my food, supplements and toiletries. By doing this I feel as though I'm giving myself a chance for a long, healthy life. I'm so pleased to have found Nature's Sunshine who make it so easy for me to buy my organic supplements and natural, chemical-free skin care and make-up.

THE TRANQUILLISER TRAP
I recently watched a Panorama programme on tranquillisers. The common name for tranquillisers is benzodiazapines and doctors are routinely prescribing these drugs that they know can be addictive. Doctors knew about this problem in 1984 but the drugs have continued to be prescribed. Since 1995 the number of prescriptions for benzodiazapines has increased drastically and 81% of people taking these drugs experience side effects, which are worse than the original problem. Some of the side effects experienced are panic attacks, dizziness and palpitations. For many people their lives are ruined because of benzodiazapines. In 1988 the Government advised doctors not to prescribe these drugs for more than a course of four weeks.

There are currently between 1 and 5 million people taking benzodiazapines for more than 4 weeks and 28% of these have been taking them for more than 10 years!

I was shocked to discover that so many people take these tranquillisers and suffer such awful side effects.

Ensure that you take the AD-C or Nutri-calm at different times to your anti-depressant.

Good Skin From The Inside Out

Quite a few people I’ve spoken to recently ask me the same question, ‘How can I improve my skin?’ It’s not always what you put onto your skin, although careful consideration must be given to this, but it’s what you put into your body that may help.

It’s always good to start with a Chinese Cleanse to get rid of the toxins and to prepare your body to absorb nutrients. This is just a ten-day cleanse of herbal combinations, together with a healthy diet – eat lots of fruit and vegetables, drink lots of water, avoid alcohol, cakes, biscuits and chocolate.  You will find that introducing 8 glasses of water into your daily routine will also greatly improve your skin.

Chinese Tiao He Cleanse        Stock No: 4000        Price: £16.29

Once you’ve completed the cleanse you can then begin to cleanse the blood with BP-X, a combination of herbs traditionally used to nutritionally support the quality of the blood and the functions of the kidneys.

BP-X                                        Stock No: 803          Price: £7.32

HSN-W is a herbal combination to help nourish the hair, skin and nails, hence its name!

HSN-W (capsules)                  Stock No: 935          Price: £8.79

HSN-W (Vegitabs)                  Stock No: 933          Price: £8.79

SynerProtein is great for lots of things and should be taken on a daily basis for general nutrition, but it also helps to repair skin cells.

SynerProtein (Original)            Stock No: 2914        Price: £9.99

SynerProtein (Chocolate)        Stock No: 2905        Price: £9.99

To get soft, silky-smooth skin, take Flaxseed Oil, an essential fatty acid (good fat), essential because every system in our bodies needs it to help prevent strokes, heart disease, arthritis, breast pain and skin diseases.         Flaxseed Oil                            Stock No: 1770        Price: £12.74
