What on earth is happening to our British summer? I was recently in Portugal for a long weekend on a Nature’s Sunshine convention sitting by the pool in glorious sunshine. Since I’ve come back, the weather here has been awful and it’s back to wearing jackets and putting the heating on! And it’s Wimbledon fortnight soon so we definitely won’t be having dry weather. Perhaps the best we can hope for is an Indian summer. I’m feeling very fortunate because I’m going to the yoga centre in Southern Crete next week. I’ll be spending two weeks doing Astanga Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates, Thai Massage and Art classes. I’m just so excited thinking about going there again and meeting lots of like-minded people. I’ll let you all know how I got on with the Thai Massage and Art Classes in my next Newsletter. Many of you would have received a letter from Nature’s Sunshine about the possible future of nutritional supplements. All the major health associations are strongly urging that consumers of supplements take immediate action to stop the government adopting the new European Directive that will restrict the use of supplements. The vitamin and mineral supplements you take may be under threat from this directive. Under tremendous pressure from the powerful pharmaceutical companies, the European Commission is aiming to deprive us of our freedom to access these supplements. The directive has no power in the UK until it is translated into our own national law – a process that is likely to take 2 or 3 years once accepted. This provides us with an immediate opportunity to show how strongly we feel about our rights and to make our voices heard. In the USA the sheer strength of public opinion stopped a similar attempt by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to make vitamin supplements subject to the same laws as drugs. Writing to your MP is a very effective way of influencing Government Policy. If you haven’t received a copy of the letter from Nature’s Sunshine, just give them a call on 01952 671600 and ask them to send you the letter which you can send to your MP and MEP. EVERY VOICE COUNTS! Lynne

The Structural System The structural system consists of the skeleton (bones), skin, muscles, membranes and connective tissues. The bones provide a strong, yet mobile, framework on which the muscles can act. The skeleton also supports and protects body organs, notably the brain and spinal cord which are encased in the skull and spine, and the heart and lungs, which are protected by the ribs. Structural-system problems and disorders can include infections and inflammations (arthritis, gangrene, tetanus, warts, dermatitis, cold sores, ringworm, psoriasis, acne, ulcers), muscular dystrophy, tumours and fibroids, cramps, fibromyalgia syndrome and auto-immune disorders (lupus, arthritis). Did you know…? · Back problems are the most common physical complaint among adults. · It is estimated that between 30-50 million Americans have arthritis, and most adults over fifty show some signs of it.

Say ‘No’ To Arthritis By the age of sixty 9 out of 10 people in the UK have arthritis.
Conventional drug treatments do nothing to cure the disease and all they
might do is reduce the pain. Arthritis is the inflammation of joints, and the
early warning signs are joint aches and pains. The good news is that there is
an alternative approach. Arthritis can be prevented and the underlying causes
can be eliminated. If you stop the disease early enough you can hope for a
complete recovery, but if there is already considerable damage to your joints
you may be able to halt the progress of the disease and reduce the pain
without taking drugs. In addition to taking the recommended products on the flow chart, you
should also look at your diet and possibly make some important changes. Good
nutrition is needed to make sure the synovial fluid between joints stays
fluid and lubricating. Almost everyone with rheumatoid arthritis and many osteoarthritis
sufferers are allergic or sensitive to certain food that make their symptoms
flare up. The most common food allergies are to wheat and dairy, and it’s
worth avoiding these foods strictly for one month to see whether this reduces
the problem. Most arthritics also have a history of a poor diet of too much
refined sugar, fat and animal protein, and too many stimulants like coffee,
tea, alcohol and cigarettes. A lack of vitamins, minerals and essential fatty
acids such as Omega 3 fish oil or Flaxseed Oil can lead to joint problems. Great results can be achieved with arthritis by cutting out the food sensitivity (usually wheat and dairy), reducing or eliminating your intake of refined sugar and animal protein especially red meat and shellfish, and cutting out the stimulants. A good nutritional programme including lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, together with the SynerPro Multi-vitamins and Minerals, SynerProtein and the herbal product ART-A will reduce or alleviate the pain of most sufferers of arthritis. Structural System Testimonials What An Improvement! I must write to say what a difference Nature’s Sunshine Products has
made to my life. I was so depressed when my GP told me he had no cure for
arthritis and just suggested I simply take painkillers. So, even though in
the past I have been sceptical about he value of complementary medicines, I
decided to at least try ART-A, supplemented by Alfalfa and Evening Primrose
Oil. After just a month the difference was remarkable – the stiffness in my
fingers and toes no longer troubles me and, best of all, I am now mobile in
the mornings! Thank you for all your help – I’m looking forward to your next
Newsletter. Brenda Walters, Gilfach Goch Eczema My son first showed signs of eczema at around 20 months. Appearing
behind his knees and in the creases of his elbows, the eczema increased in
intensity until he approached his 4th birthday and I started
giving him NSP’s Evening Primrose Oil. I gave him three capsules both morning
and evening, and bathed his arms and legs in Aloe Vera Juice. I also made a
tea from two BP-X capsules and added a dessertspoonful to each of his drinks.
Initially the condition seemed to grow worse but within a month I was able to
detect an improvement. At the end of three months, following this regime, the
eczema had completely gone except for a small patch in the crease of each
elbow, which continues to get smaller. Rosemary Lawrence, Kent |
