NATURE’S SUNSHINE WORKSHOPS

I recently attended the Nature’s Sunshine workshops in Coventry. There were twelve different workshops from which three could be chosen. The first one I attended was a talk by Terry Rigby on the outstanding quality of NSP supplements. Terry made us aware that the main ingredient in the children’s vitamins produced by Centrum and Sanatogen was the sweetener Aspartame. This sweetener was condemned as dangerous and potentially toxic in a report published in the 1980s, yet it is still used to sweeten drinks, food and some nutritional supplements.

Peter Klein, NSP’s herbalist, was talking about the importance of detoxing and eliminating parasites. Peter also gave advice on a Herbal Medicine Kit that everyone should have in their homes. If you want a fact sheet on this Herbal Medicine Kit, ring me on 01689 856581 and I’ll send you one in the post.

The third workshop I attended was run by four therapists who have successfully used Nature’s Sunshine Products in their practices for years. One of the therapists was a trained nutritionist who previously used a selection of products from different companies. She soon found after starting with NSP that the extensive range of the unique herbal formulations were so effective that she no longer needed products from other companies.

Another of the therapists was Linda Porter, who specialises in working with children who have behavioural problems. Linda has had great success using NSP supplements for children. The children’s Herbasaurs range is naturally sweetened with lemon and lime and definitely do not contain Aspartame. Linda’s first statement was that we couldn’t have a healthy balanced diet without supplementation. Please see overleaf for precise details of how to improve your children’s health.

All the therapists found that the Lifestyle Analysis and flow charts were the main keys to their success. The therapists were astounded with the speed of the results achieved after recommending the products suggested by the flow charts. Other therapists are now asking what products they are using to get such quick and effective results.

FAB FOR THE BODY – GOOD FOR THE SOLES

This was the headline of a report written by journalist, Alice Hart-Davis, in the Telegraph on Saturday 17 January. She had been persuaded by a friend to visit her salon to try out the foot spa detox as it was brilliant for skin and the lady in the flower shop told her it had put a spring in her step for weeks. Here are some of her comments. “My feet once rinsed and dried are remarkably soft and not wrinkled as you would expect after half an hour’s immersion in water. I bounce out feeling terrific and my perpetually stiff neck is less creaky. It’s a thrillingly easy way to shift a bunch of noxious chemicals and this has to be the most painless way to detox. You don’t have to starve to detox. Just soak your feet and wait.” The report then went on to say: “Research shows that ammonia, nitrates and phosphates are all released by every patient treated. It is particularly interesting because ammonia is released by the kidneys, so when it shows up in the water we know that the machine is detoxing the kidneys.”

I purchased a bioenergy detox machine last year, having heard wonderful reports of its detoxing ability. Many of my clients have come for a treatment and every one of them said they felt “cleaner” after the foot detox. A full health consultation is included with the first treatment and the whole process takes about an hour. I have a leaflet which explains the bioenergy detox in detail, which is available on request.

THE HEALTH OF YOUR CHILDREN

Do you know any naughty children? Are you tearing your hair out trying to control your children?

A recent study carried out in the Corpus Christie school in South London arranged for a class of 8 year olds to be given a typical 1940s diet for two weeks. They ate porridge or pilchards on toast for breakfast, had no snacks during the day and were given food such as Irish Stew, cabbage and whole foods for lunch. The parents participated in the study and dinner was also based on whole foods. There was a marked improvement in their concentration levels, ability and behaviour. The mothers also benefited as they actually lost weight during the study!

When compared to current diets, the 1940s diet contained 30g of sugar less per day. This is very significant as diabetes is on the increase in both children and adults.

Research done on hyperactive children has shown that by eliminating additives, chemicals and some foods and supplementing the diet with important nutrients, considerable improvements can be made. Studies indicate that a high percentage of hyperactive and autistic children have a deficiency in zinc, vitamin C, magnesium and vitamins B3/B6/B12.

Children are also lacking in the essential fatty acids such as flax seed oil and fish oils. Young minds have to be fed and the brain needs a good supply of nutrients to maintain its function of learning and thinking. If nutrients are inadequate these functions can become impaired.

As mentioned overleaf, I recently attended a workshop run by nutritionist, Linda Porter. She has found that there is a clear link with food, lack of certain nutrients and behavioural problems.

Linda recommended that children should be given a daily nutritional drink made up of TNT, Chocolate SynerProtein and Flax Seed Oil (open the oil capsules and add them to the drink if children can’t swallow them). This is a basic programme for children giving them a range of vitamins and minerals and essential fatty acids.

Linda uses the Lifestyle Analysis on children to find any other problem areas, which may be contributing to their behavioural problems.

She has found that autistic children improve when given Gotu Kola and Flax Seed Oil.

Hyperactive children improve when given Focus Attention (USA monthly order form) and TNT which contains zinc. Again the Nutritional Drink is imperative.

Nature’s Sunshine has produced a range of children’s supplements called Herbasaurs. The range includes Chewable Multi Vitamins, Liquid Multi Vitamins, Chewable Antioxidants, Calcium for Kids, Elderberry Plus and Bifidophilus for Kids.

So try and get your children to eat more healthily and think about giving them the daily Nutritional Drink or the Herbasaurs range.

The book “Dump the Junk” by Mary Whiting contains recipes and over 300 expert tips on how to encourage your children to eat healthy food and dump the junk. (ISBN 0-9544324-0-1).

I know quite a few people who have had success in changing their children’s behaviour in this way.

WOMEN’S HEALTH

Monthly Needs

Monthly hormonal fluctuations place unique demands on a woman’s body. Our diet and lifestyle have an effect on hormonal imbalances. Causes of imbalance include over consumption of caffeine, sugar, unhealthy dietary fat and salt and insufficient essential fatty acids. In addition, medication including the birth control pill can contribute to nutritional shortfalls, especially B6.

Premenstrual Tension

For a large number of women, it happens every month like a recurring bad dream. The most common symptoms of premenstrual tension (PMT) include abdominal cramping, mood swings, crying spells, irritability, tension, anxiety, fatigue, water retention, headaches, acne breakouts, bloating, depression, lower back pain, nausea, breast tenderness and cravings for sugar or chocolate.

An imbalance in the oestrogen-to-progesterone ratio is believed to be a root cause of PMT. Harsh chemicals and drugs can interfere with the liver’s ability to filter excess oestrogen. Studies show that vitamins and herbs nutritionally support hormone balance.

As a monthly regimen a lot of women have success with taking either Monthly Maintenance (stock no 1812) or FC with Dong Quai (stock no 882).

Supporting products are:

Vitamin E with Selenium- helps alleviate breast soreness and food cravings.

Evening primrose oil – helps balance the hormones.

Calcium-Magnesium – alleviates cramps and reduces chocolate cravings.

Chelated iron – produces red blood cells and aids good skin tone.

Nutri Calm – helps to control stress levels very effectively.

Stress Pack – contains Nutri Calm and other herbs for those extra stressful times.

Pregnancy

Pregnancy places greater nutritional demands on a woman’s body. A developing baby totally depends on its mother for proper nutrition.

Folic Acid Plus is essential to help regulate embryonic and foetal development of nerve cells, vital for normal growth. The most crucial time is during the first six weeks of pregnancy. Deficiencies in folic acid have been linked to birth defects. Take Folic Acid Plus before pregnancy, then replace it with Nature’s Prenatal during pregnancy and breast-feeding.

Nature’s Prenatal provides a balanced combination of vitamins, minerals and folic acid to support the nutritional needs of both mother and baby. This unique formula also contains ginger root to help soothe the stomach. Nature’s Prenatal does not contain artificial colours or flavours, preservatives, sweeteners, sugar, yeast, gluten, lactose, milk, soy or wheat – so you can take it with complete confidence.
